The theme of the tour was Music & Migration: all the works we performed were written by refugee and migrant composers – from Handel to Kurt Weill and Bartók to The Fugees – including a UK premiere by Aftab Darvishi, an Iranian composer.
We were very excited to welcome Jean Paul Samputu, a Rwandan refugee and one of the world’s most prominent African artists, as our vocal soloist.
On Saturday April 15 we performed at Hackney Showroom as part of Nonclassical’s infamous classical club-night, fusing live contemporary classical music with electronic beats.
